Air Raid

"Air Raid "

Poland, Poznan - USA, June 2001.

Air mail action. 25 small models of Polish war planes. Explanatory letters, strategical maps.

Assembling model planes - very delicate and meticulous work seems to be quite far from the matters of warfare.
By assembling and sending these delicate objects via air mail, I intended to make a micro and harmless air attack on American art institutions.

All planes "landed" in 25 major museums and galleries across the US. Only one museum sent a response.

BREAKING NEWS!

Earlier this year (2007) I finally visited in Seattle the only person who responded to my project: the Burke Museum exhibit curator Arn Sletteback. Unfortunately the plane hasn't survive.
